Position: Laboratory Manager
Location: Hornell, NY
Start: ASAP

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8:00am-4:30pm)

Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire

Job Details:

Preparation and presentation of the Process Improvement report to be presented at the monthly In-House Quality meeting.

Preparation and presentation of the Blood Bank Transfusion Committee report to be presented at the quarterly Blood Transfusion Committee meeting.

Preparation and presentation of statistics for the Quarterly Pathology meeting.

Act as the Lab Contact for NYSDOH and Joint Commission Inspections.

Review, sign and submit Analyzer Linearity/Calibration Verifications and Correlation Studies to assigned designee every 6-months.

Oversight of Quality Assurance to include monthly Audits (Tracers) for Lab Depts. and LIS quarterly Quality Report.

Oversight of monthly Quality Management System (QSM) reports for Lab Departments.

Oversight of American Proficiency Institute (API) Proficiency Testing for the Lab and submission to CNO for review and correction.

Act as Lab contact for NYSDOH Health Commerce System Access to update Lab Application records in the e-CLEP module and submit the Gross Annual Receipts (GAR) report and HIV Survey annually.

Submission of COVID-19 PCR test counts online to NYSDOH weekly.

Attend Daily Safety Huddle, Patient Experience, Environment of Care and Safety and Leadership meetings.

Preparation and submission of Annual Operating and Capital Budgets to the Finance Dept.

Preparation and submission of monthly Variance Reports to the Finance Department.

Prepare staffing schedules in a fair and consistent manner to ensure the Lab is staffed appropriately and compliance with PTO and overtime policies.

Submission of payroll in AOD Management every other week.

Conducts Performance Evaluations on staff.

Inventory control to include reagents, QC, calibrators, consumables and other supplies necessary to run the Lab as needed.

Oversight and submission of Lab Tech's Continuing Education hours in MediaLab.

Review, approval and submission of Agency Tech Payroll to vendors.

Review, code, approval and submission of ARC Blood Bank Invoices.

Communicate with physicians and nursing staff about questions and/or problems surrounding the collection or testing process and test results.

Anticipates and understands the needs of the customer (both external and internal). Delivers products and services that meet or exceed the customer's expectations and needs. Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.

Attend and/or participate in employee engagement activities, Press Ganey initiatives or any other Human Resource driven programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and limited permit of NYS Licensure required.

6 years as a Medical Technologist, according to NYS regulations.

Previous Manager experience within a lab setting required

Current NYS MT Licensure

Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific/trade/technical journals.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies.

Ability to speak clearly to patients and staff as well as physicians.

Potential exposure to chemicals and communicable diseases and related waste (including bodily fluids).

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a standing position 50% of the time, move about within the work area, access file cabinets, copier and fax machines, walk to transport specimens, communicate, converse and exchange information and move, transport or position a minimum weight of 50 lbs.
